Per decenni venivano considerati semplici \u201cscarti\u201d del parto; oggi sappiamo che, al contrario, custodiscono uno dei patrimoni pi\u00f9 preziosi della medicina moderna: le cellule staminali.<\/p><p>Queste cellule non sono tutte uguali: nel sangue del cordone, nel tessuto che lo avvolge e nella placenta si trovano popolazioni diverse, ognuna con caratteristiche particolari. class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Nel sangue del cordone ombelicale si concentrano le <strong>cellule staminali ematopoietiche<\/strong>, quelle che danno origine a tutte le cellule del sangue: globuli rossi, globuli bianchi e piastrine.<\/p><p>Sono le cellule pi\u00f9 \u201cfamose\u201d perch\u00e9 gi\u00e0 oggi hanno cambiato la vita di migliaia di pazienti: vengono impiegate nei trapianti per pi\u00f9 di <strong>80 patologie<\/strong>, in particolare malattie del sangue come leucemie, linfomi, talassemie e gravi
