Oltre al cordone ombelicale, al tessuto cordonale e alla placenta, c\u2019\u00e8 un\u2019altra possibilit\u00e0: il <strong>sangue periferico<\/strong>, quello che scorre ogni giorno nelle nostre vene.<\/p><p>Da un semplice prelievo si possono isolare le <strong>cellule mononucleate del sangue periferico (PBMC, Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells)<\/strong>, un insieme di cellule immunitarie \u2013 come linfociti e monociti \u2013 che a prima vista sembrano &#8220;comuni&#8221;. Questo \u00e8, in sostanza, ci\u00f2 che accade con la <strong>riprogrammazione cellulare<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Grazie a questa scoperta, che \u00e8 valsa il <strong>Premio Nobel a Shinya Yamanaka<\/strong>, le cellule del sangue periferico (PBMC) possono essere trasformate in <strong>cellule staminali pluripotenti indotte (iPSC, Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells)<\/strong>.
