Swiss Stem Cells Biotech was founded in 2005 by a group of forward-thinking researchers and physicians working at Cardiocentro Ticino in Lugano, Switzerland. Ever since the first stem cell transplant was performed in 2004 following a heart attack, there had been a conviction that stem cells would be the future of medicine.
Thus, it had been discovered that the umbilical cord was a rich source of stem cells that could become a great resource for the future unborn child and the entire family unit.
Swiss Stem Cells Biotech was the first biobank in Europe and is the only one in Switzerland to be FACT-NetCord and GMP certified.
To date, more than 70 percent of all transplants are performed with samples from FACT-NetCord certified banks. This certification ensures that samples are considered safe and usable by all transplant centers anywhere in the world.
Our commitment at SSCB goes far beyond mere stem cell preservation.
