Cerebral palsy: the story of Ee Han

A better future thanks to his umbilical cord stem cells

Ee Han is only 3 months old when he is diagnosed with overall development delay and quadriplegic cerebral palsy, a permanent movement and posture disorder. He also suffers from severe hearing loss in both ears.

After trying various occupational and audio-verbal therapies, as well as expensive equipment to improve his motor skills, the child’s parents became aware of the possibility of Ee Han undergoing stem cell therapies.

It was only then that they remembered that they had stored their child’s umbilical cord blood at birth, and immediately took action to apply for the necessary permits from the Singapore Ministry of Health to proceed with the treatment.

Ee Han underwent two infusions of stem cells extracted from his umbilical cord, showing significant improvements already after the first injection.

The child, who is now 7 years old, can now sit up on his own, has better control of his emotions and has begun to crawl and be more proactive in reaching the objects he wants.

Although still very dependent on their care, Ee Han’s parents are deeply happy with the progress made thanks to the stem cells in his umbilical cord, and are now aiming for continuous improvement in his motor skills.

Preserving your baby’s umbilical cord blood and tissue stem cells represents a real opportunity to benefit from developing cell therapies in the future. Find out how to do this with Nescens Swiss Stem Cell Science.
